We all went to Riverside the day before the funeral so three of the sons could dress their father. It was a humbling experience. The
Redland's fam, the Utah fam and our
fam met at Grandma B's house and had a time of play and enjoying each other. The Redland's fam moved to Oregon right after the funeral, so we are sad.

After the funeral three of the four brothers and their families again met at their mom's and had a time of
decompression and
conversation. I'm glad we could all just flop in the family room,
reminiscing and telling stories from their childhood. We hardly heard from the kids in the back yard as they played games and the little girls made mud pies. Too bad I didn't bring a change of clothes for M-7!

While the Utah
fam were here they stayed at our house for more cousin fun. We went to the beach and as usual dug huge pits, we all watched Pride and Prejudice (the 5 hour Colin Firth version! All the kids love it!), went to the movies to see Up and the kids played their traditional game of cops and robbers in the backyard with flashlights. They always have a great time and I am grateful for the
relationships they have and the memories they make.

We went to a local Jazz in the Park festival for a picnic dinner and dancing. We were all pretty wiped out after the emotionally draining week, but I thought it was fun. We had to laugh at most of the other
attendees and their elaborate picnic set ups; low tables with table cloths, roses in vases, china and stemware. Our goal was to not leave with anything we brought!

Now I guess it's time to get back to normal. Oh wait, my hubby has back surgery on Tuesday. Well, it was a nice thought, anyway.
