It was super, super hot, but the kids had fun dressing up and enjoying the booths of food, crafts and activities. Our ward's primary sang some pioneer songs and our cub scouts performed the Ham Bone song. L-13 and M-7 also helped out the Activity Day girls by performing the Virginia Reel dance. It was all a lot of fun but we came home completely drained and on the verge of dehydration.
The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers had a booth and L-13 found her ancestor that walked with the Mormon Battalion. My daughters will be able to be members of this organization as well as Daughters of the American Revolution when they are 18 years old.
We had a huge Pioneer Day Celebration! The highlight of the event was the replica of the Nauvoo temple that members of the Spanish ward constructed in the parking lot. Incredible! It was really beautiful and amazing that they built it in just a few days.
