Sand Dollars on the Move

Sand Dollars are quite different looking when they are alive. They are purple with fine bristly hairs covering them.
I confess I didn't find all of these together like this. The beach was littered with sand dollars, but it was more like 4 or 5 every 5 feet or so. My friend and I collected these to lend a helping hand and throw them back into the water after I took a few snaps. We noticed, though, that they were making pretty good time all on their own by the looks of their track marks in the sand.

This guy looks like he was sliding into home plate.

P-9 begged me to include one of his Golden Boy pics. The sand was especially metallic (mica, I guess) and my children think it's great fun to coat their bodies with it. It's a huge pain to get off and he went to cub scouts with it still stuck all over his face and neck. Oh well.
