Week End Walk

After a week away, it was good to see what was going on in the backyard and field.
Everything is so colorful and alive!
Lots of little blossoms in all shapes and colors~
This will soon be a stately blue spire~ Pride of Madeira, one of my favorites. They get very large and I have volunteers everywhere.
I thought this was Lantana but I'm not sure. It is very invasive and taking over the trees in the side yard in the shade. So pretty and great for butterflies.
Statice, commonly known as Sea Lavender, is popping up everywhere, too, especially in the field.
This cute little lady is on some vicious looking weed in the field. Not sure what these spines are called, but they look like they will be fierce when they dry out. The field is covered in them.
Whatever this wildflower is, it sure is sweet looking. It is growing in a huge patch under the pepper tree.
Not sure if this is French Lavender or English, but there are small clumps All Over the field. Love it! Breaking news! It's French Lavender!

Nothing says Spring Time in So. Cal like huge swaths of ice plant color! What a show! We have a slope that is covered with this cornea burning magenta.
Love the huge agave plants behind the ice plant.
This large, bush like plant looks like a succulent, but it's not. I noticed it's seeds are fluffy like dandelion and they're everywhere.
Lots of beautiful roses and lots, lots more to come. Unfortunately, I'm not the only one that loves roses. The aphids are having a party. Luckily, that little lady bug in the field isn't the only one I've seen, and I'm sure they will be working hard to eat up those aphids. In the meantime, I sprayed dish soap and water on the roses and that helped quite a bit.

I think this big yellow flower is coming out of a cactus. It's been in bloom like this for weeks!
Two different plants~ The light pink is like a dried flower. So sweet!
We have bottle brush trees lining our drive way. The bees love them! They are very messy trees, though!

Things are looking peachy on the peach tree! It is loaded down with fruit. I need to thin it out!

See that tall white bird? It's a Snowy Egret. Several weeks ago he was in our field. Today I saw him in the neighbor's yard and when I went for my backyard walk I saw him fly into the other neighbor's yard. I wonder where his friends are? I like having a resident Egret!
