I really didn't have time this morning but wanted to go for a short walk in the backyard. I decided to grab the camera just in case.
I noticed the macadamia nut tree was in bloom and thought macadamia nut flowers would be an interesting subject and knowing when they bloom would be a good thing to add to my garden journal. I noticed a lot of bees and a loud buzzing. I'm used to it because, well, we have a lot of flowers so we have a lot of bees. Also, when the date palms are in flower the buzzing of bees is really loud. When I was done shooting the tree, I turned to continue walking past some dwarf citrus trees.
Ah ha! That is where the buzzing is coming from!
The dogs started nosing around them, so I quickly took them inside. I now have to hurry off to teach a class, but I need to do something about these bees! I really want to have a hive, so maybe I can call someone to catch this swarm and get some hives for them. Coincidentally, I am watching a documentary called The Vanishing of the Bees on Netflix, and our commonwealth school class has a bee keeper coming in next week as a guest speaker. Edit to add: Came home and the bees are gone! Oh well!

I was just getting caught up on your blog! I loved the funnies! What a crew you've got. And reading about your visit to Ohio with all your family for your mama's funeral. Life.
Love you much.
I seem to remember hearing that bees sometimes do not make it home before dark so they check in at a suitable place to lodge and keep warm for the night.
Wow! What an exciting discovery! They really are amazing creatures.
