The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today~ Tuesday March 23, 20010

Outside my window~ is overcast and cool. The sky is white but I see a tinge of very faint blue trying to show itself. It looks still after a very windy first few weeks of March. Maybe it's going out like a lamb a little early.

I am listening to~ light traffic noise. Rush hour is over and it's just the steady whoosh of cars and trucks getting to where they're going. The house is quiet except for an occasional cough or dog scolding. Oh, a little bird just started singing. Thank you.

I am thinking~ that I want to go into this day gently.

I am thankful for~ good people who do good things. And warm as toast children that like me to read to them.

From the learning rooms~ (which is every room in this house) I organized books and "stuff" last night to make a smoother flow to our learning intention. Hearth basket tidied, file folders replenished and some umph was mustered to tie up loose ends on the winter based studies.

From the kitchen~ we've had a puffed pancakes for breakfast craze the past few days. What I really want is a breakfast burrito. And Tortilla Soup for dinner. I must need some spice in my life.

I am pondering~ this quote by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, "Anything you do from the soulful self will help lighten the burdens of the world. Anything. You have no idea what the smallest word, the tiniest generosity, can cause to be set in motion...Mend the part of the world that is within your reach."

I am reading~ nothing. I'm in that momentary lull as you just finish and set down one book, that was so good you couldn't read anything else, and pause before you pick up the next. The book just finished? The Gift of an Ordinary Day by Katrina Kenison. The next? The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

I am watching~ an excited little girl that is waiting for the UPS man to bring some Magic Tree House books to fill in the gaps in the collection. She wrote on her calendar that they will arrive TODAY, so... I sure hope they do. The sooner the better.

A few plans for the rest of the week~ Busy nights. Outside responsibilities. Double stacked calendar. Choices between two goods, two nights in a row. Other than that, I've had some requests: Library, recycling center to cash in, animal shelter to finish service project, Shakespeare play field trip, and Easter crafts/Passover preparation because they are just around the corner!

A picture thought I am sharing~

Sacagawea came to our History Club yesterday and gave us the inside scoop on Lewis and Clark's expedition. (Lewis, otherwise known as M-8 is in the big black hat and Clark is in the coon skin hat.)
