Emergency Preparedness Drill Update – April 1, 2009 approximately 5:00 a.m. PST
"All resources have been deployed around the clock to re-establish fresh water to the local communities. Some success has been recognized but unfortunately most of the area is still without running water. Fresh running drinkable water has been re-established for homes north of highway **, but unfortunately, during the massive repair work, a main electric line was severed and there is no electricity for these homes. (*That would be our family...)It is estimated that it will take 24 hours to restore. All homes south of highway ** remains without running water but the electrical supply has not been damaged. It is estimated that running water to these homes will be fully restored within 24 hours as well. IMPORTANT NOTE for homes without electric power (north of Hwy **). You are to use battery-operated flashlights and/or candles for light only. Do not use your propane lanterns or BBQ stoves inside your home or anything like it. I repeat. You cannot use any other source for light other than battery-operated flashlights and/or candles. Miraculously, the only electrical device that is working in your home is your computer…go figure. Please be safe."
