This morning I took a stroll in the back yard to see what was new. It's been a year since we have made this patch of land our home. It's been a year of intense change, struggles and blessings. I love how nature always changes, showing us new beginnings and the cycle of life. Sometimes it changes naturally as the season draws to a close and sometimes the change comes from an outside force, but it is usually for the best and we can witness a re-birth.
*The Butterfly Bush is blooming and getting visitors. It looked terrible and I thought it died, but we cut it back, it grew back, and looks beautiful again.
*The apple trees have lots of little apples.
*The avocado tree has so many baby avos! I only harvested five avocados last season, so I am excited.
*This peach tree is a later harvesting variety. It is a very old tree;we were told 30 years old. It doesn't have a lot of peaches on the small part that is alive, so we will see if we keep it or remove it to make room for something new.
*I opened the coop door to say good morning and all of the girls were up on the roost.
*The Pink Ladies are back. The plants in the side yard bloom a couple of months earlier than the ones in the front.
*The little citrus trees that I guess are tangerine must fruit every six months.
*I'm so glad this little tree seems to be doing o.k. I love the sweet pinkish purple puffs. We damaged it while dragging some heavy limbs that knocked it over, so I'm glad it's tougher than it looks.
*The day lilies in the potager are back.
*The lavender got a big trim and it has grown back looking happy and healthy.
