Spring Wrap Up-C-14

C-14 had a very busy spring semester!  One of his classes at our commonwealth school was a Civil War (or War of Northern Aggression, depending on which side you are on...) class called Sword of Freedom. They learned so much and had fantastic mentors.

After completing the assignments* he and his classmates received their swords!

C-14 chose a Legend of Zelda styled sword, of course.
I'm so proud of how he buckled down, organized his time and did the hard work.  These classes require a lot of initiative as there are no grades, no "have to's", just the student's own motivation.  Great job, Lieutenant General!!

*Assignments (1 semester):
*Read and discuss:  Uncle Tom's Cabin, Across Five Aprils, Abraham Lincoln: God's Humble Servant, To Kill a Mockingbird
*Write 8 opinion papers/writing assignments
*Oral presentation (Civil war prisons)
*Written Hero report (Stonewall Jackson)
*Memorize the Gettysburg Address
*Memorize Doctrine and Covenants 134:1-5  (Awesome scripture!!)
*Watch 3 movies (Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, Shenandoah- class pizza and movie nights)
*Memorize 3 songs:  Battle Hymn of the Republic, Dixie, When Johnny Comes Marching Home)
