Harvest Time~

Today M-9 and I went apple picking in our backyard. Such a beautiful fall day! It was a bit cool when we started but we quickly felt the warmth of the sun. We harvested a nice basket full of pretty apples for the last time this year. We had a few other small pickings throughout the season. I also picked the last but a few remaining tiny pears and the only two asian pears that made it.

I also picked a few tomatoes today. I'm afraid that a lot of my tomatoes have something wrong with them. A lot of them have a target shaped marking and hole. Many have a bad spot where the blossom was, as well, and to top it off, my blossoms are dying, too. But all in all not too bad for doing virtually nothing to them and practically killing them for lack of water.

The red onion in the basket was left in the garden bed from the previous owner. I had a lot of green onions they planted, too, but they got too big and old before I could pick them. The peppers are so pretty!

I have a TON of windfall lemons that we need to gather from the ground and a TON growing on the tree. Why anyone would want more than one lemon tree is beyond me!
The grapefruit tree is loaded, too, and unfortunately it is in a funny spot that is hard to get to! There are several other citrus trees that I can't identify. I know one is a Tangelo and I think the large orange is a Navel orange. There is a tree that has lots of green citrus that just might be a lime.

Even though most of these things were here before we moved in, I have learned a lot about gardening. I am excited to be a *real gardener* and hopefully progress to hobby farmer in the near future.
