Over the years I have dabbled in nature notebooking with the kids. I really wish I was more of an artist, but that's o.k. I keep trying. Once, while agonizing over my lack of skill, my artist mother in law empathised with me and told me she understood; she had cried tears over rose petals before. After 2 1/2 weeks of a horrible sinus infection and cough (not to mention a winter of surgery recovery) I am ready to pack the tote with art pads, water color pencils and field guides and head out for some Wild Days with the kids.
Some of my favorite resources: Pocketful of Pinecones, Keeping a Nature Journal, The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, the Susan Lovejoy books, (Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots, et al)
and Wild Days. And how could I forget the Five in a Row Nature Studies for each season! http://fiarhq.com/fiveinarow.info/digitalnaturestudies.html

Nature Notebooks are always on my "to get to list", but I think I'd like to give it a serious go this year. I am so not an artist, but it looks fun. :)
