*Language Arts~ Discussed poetry and rhyming with this beautiful poem by Robert Frost. L thought he had the perfect name for this poem- Robert FROST. We read other winter poems, too.
*Science~We made crystal snowflakes out of Borax and pipecleaners. So pretty! We observed frost on the grass one morning-what perfect timing! Another little blessing was a hailstorm! How cool to dance in a hailstorm!
*Art~ Cut heaps of intricate paper snowflakes. Looked for details in the artwork in the book.
The illustrated version by Susan Jeffers is beautiful. Found hidden animals through out the pages. Discussed cover art and compared this book with other wintery books. L found that they were all grey, snowy and had bare trees; all signs of winter!
