What a wonderful trip to Venice, Italy we had with this book!
*Social Studies~ We found Italy on the globe and had lunch in our own Italian cafe of spaghetti and garlic bread. L decorated our cafe with a flag of Italy she made. We learned some italian words that we used through out the day. Gracie bambini! We looked at library books on Italy and pictures from Grandma and Grandpa's trip to Venice. We also touched on Marco Polo and his travels. We had a lot of fun learning the origins of pasta.
*Art~ We made Carnival masks and turned laundry baskets into gondolas! We colored salt with a really beautiful art chalk. I made a color wheel and we discussed primary colors, complimentary colors and blending. We were blessed to see a rainbow this afternoon!
*Language Arts~Acted out the action words in the story.
*Music appreciation~ We learned about Antonio Vivaldi, listened and danced to his Four Seasons and enjoyed the Classical Kids cd Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery.
*Science~Discussed periphel vision, blur and speed. We hung a small toy on a string and spun it around to see the blur. We've been noticing blurs ever since!
