The Glorious Flight

*Social Studies~ We learned about France, England and the English Channel and found them all on the map. We discussed and looked at pictures of the white cliffs of Dover and put pictures in our Geography envelopes.
*Language Arts~ Discussed onomatopoeia. Read Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? We cut out pictures from magazines to make an onomatopoeia collage that we used to play a guessing game by making the sound and guessing the picture. (Example: Chomp, chomp is for a girl eating.)
*Science~ We did air experiments with paper and made lots of paper airplanes! We discussed lift and thrust.
*Field Trips~ We went to a small local airport and asked if we could have a tour. L's narration of the trip: I drove an airplane at the airport! It was really fun. We watched an airplane land and take off. After that we went to Carl's Jr. with my friend Emily. Some of the wings were bigger than others that they were right by. An airplane's propeller goes round and round so an airplane can take off. The driver steers the steering wheel so the airplane can go up.
We also went to the Aerospace Museum! We all had a lot of fun seeing all of the different types of airplanes. We were very excited to see a replica of Beriot's XI and a mannequin of Louis Bleriot.
