Simple Woman's Daybook

I am...
{Listening to}  Peep peep peep PEEP.  Peep peep peep PEEP.  I'm sitting in the living room and sitting just outside my window is the turkey brooder.  Two little Bourbon turkey chicks, cute as can be, with long, lanky legs, tiny little snood bumps and big, brown eyes.  Turkey eyes are different from chickens.  They're deep and soulful.

{Noticing} God's abundant grace.  Like the law of tithing, "paying into" obedience allows God to make up the difference and bless you tenfold back in interest. Making time in a busy schedule to study scriptures, pray and meditate, and serve others, gives you back the time you thought you sacrificed, and surprisingly, a little bonus, to boot. God's economy is the best.

{Pondering} "...please understand that what you see and experience now is not what forever will be. You will not feel loneliness, sorrow, pain, or discouragement forever. We have the faithful promise of God that He will neither forget nor forsake those who incline their hearts to Him. Have hope and faith in that promise. Learn to love your Heavenly Father and become His disciple in word and in deed." You Matter to Him, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, October 2011 General Conference

{Learning} BYU Idaho Pathways program starts...Now. I am in my last semester before I matriculate as an official BYU Idaho online student.  Math and Book of Mormon. Yes, Math....I'm trying not to hyperventilate. Math and I have never really got along. I'm hoping to repair our relationship. Commonwealth school classes started two weeks ago.  I'm mentoring the Thomas Jefferson Youth Certification project.  Lots of reading, writing, discussing.  It's delightful.  And really hard. Meanwhile, while folding laundry I try to squeeze in Life Lessons from the Great Books on Audible.  FYI, The Great Courses are now on Audible. Love, love, love.

{Creating} Rhythm and Order....hopefully. I really dislike schedules.  I do like routines, though.  I like to have chunks of time that have established routines.  Then I can just "do the next thing" and try not to get sidetracked.  It's easy to get sidetracked, isn't it? And there are just so many things that need to be done!  So my schedules usually look like this:
Morning Routine
School Routine for kids
Mom's Study Time
Zones/Chore Routine
Bedtime Routine
Having a routine helps to give me lots of wiggle room.  I don't like to start my morning routine until after my dh (dear husband) has left for work.  Today it is 9:30 and he hasn't left yet. Hence, my using this time to blog. Sometimes my "morning routine" doesn't get started until the early afternoon.  I really prefer to start my day with my morning routine, but sometimes it just doesn't happen that way. The nice thing about routine vs. schedule is flexibility.  You can change things around and it doesn't really matter what order you do them.

{Picture Thought}
I invited my DH to go to a yard sale with me. Some friends were moving from the country to suburban Orange County and were getting rid of lots of fun stuff.  I picked up loads of furniture and my DH came home with this beauty.  Well, he didn't literally come home with it-he had to go back with a trailer to pick it up.  It will be a great project for dad and boys to work on.
