While we were sitting on the beach there were two large commercial fishing boats dropping their nets pretty close to shore. The lifeguard jet skied out to them and told them they needed to back off. They continued to fish and it was actually kind of neat to see them working the huge nets.
After they left the lifeguard announced over a loud speaker to stay only waist deep in the water and not to swim out to the dolphins. "Remember, they are wild animals! They are chasing fish and will move on!" Of course, the entire beach headed immediately out to the water after an announcement like that.
There were 6-8 dolphins just on the other side of the breakwater, really close to the boogie boarders. They were so fun to watch!
The boys also found several crabs (regular crabs and a hermit crab) and had a habitat for them for most of the time. Good times at the beach!
