The Monarch Butterfly Program

The chrysalids are so beautiful!

Today we went on a fun field trip with our homeschool group to the Butterfly Farm. (It's not really called that, but it was the best way I could describe it to the kids.) We had a nice interactive lecture on the life cycle of a butterfly, then went into the vivarium for some up close butterfly fun. We got to hold caterpillars and feed butterflies slices of watermelon. We couldn't resist coming home with a Monarch larva (caterpillar) and milkweed plant even though we just raised some butterflies last year...

The field trip was so much fun. Thank you for inviting us. Kaylee loved it and I'm so glad I got up even though I was tired.
