Fathers and Sons Campout

My boys always look forward to the annual ward fathers and sons campout. They camp at the beach and always come home with fantastic stories of fun and games, bugs, and pounds of bacon consumed. This year Dad gets major brownie points as he camped on an air mattress with a hole in it while suffering with a herniated disk. Ouch! What a trooper. He also volunteered to be "measured for a coffin wild west style" and ended up, along with a counselor in the bishopric, with water poured down their pants legs! Let's just say that denim doesn't dry out very quickly and they didn't have a change of clothes. Poor guys! P-9 was also excited to find a new (or so he says) species of bug. He took pictures of it and the camera was passed around the campfire. It really made him feel special to have so many interested in his find! The highlight was a talk given by a brother that had his helicopter shot down in Vietnam. The next day C-11 told me the story in vivid detail. It really made an impact on him.
They all came home dirty, smelling like wood smoke and exhausted, with lots of happy memories.
