How To Make An Apple Pie and See the World

Lots of apple fun! We made: a clove apple pomander (just like Ma in Little House in the Big Woods), we taste tested and compared different varieties of apples, sprouted apple seeds in a baggie, made apple prints, made homemade applesauce, then turned it into applesauce cinnamon dough and made letters, and made carmel apples.
*Social Studies~ This book took us all around the world! We pointed out the countries on the globe and discussed each one. For Jamaica we discussed what a banana boat was and listened and learned Day-O. We made use of DK Explorers software a lot. We also tracked Dad's route to Ireland. We tried really hard to remember each ingredient and where the girl had to go to get them.
*Science~ We made home made butter by rolling a Tupperware bowl filled with cream back and forth to each other, we grated cinnamon sticks, we made salt water and waited for the water to evaporate and examined the huge salt crystals. So cool!
