The two little Bourbon Red turkeys are getting bigger. They still live in the dog crate with a heat lamp on the deck, but they take field trip outside once in awhile. This week-end they enjoyed exploring the deck while W worked on some tractor parts at the table.
They are so funny and awkward with their long legs and big feet. They are feathering out but still have down on their chests.
They ate their food. And dumped it all over....
They are so cute together!
They drank their water and strolled around...
All under the sleepy eyes of Henry. He was such a good boy and even let the chicks peck around those massive paws.
After all that turkey trotting around they basked in the sun and relaxed.
Now to answer the big question everyone asks...No, they are not for Thanksgiving or any other dinner. They are just our friends. Or rather, fowl companions for Fred who is quite outnumbered in the field with five llamas. If one of these birds is a hen and one a tom, then we will try to sell eggs and/or turkey chicks. Other than that they'll add to the pastoral scene that is our home.

I have to admit, I've never thought turkeys are cute, but these are adorable!
