We lost our favorite hen, Mrs. Wiggly Comb, to a coyote. There has been a rouge coyote prowling around the neighborhood in the mornings and it has been seen in our neighbor's yard. One morning at 6:30 am I heard a ruckus outside. The hens came out of the coop as soon as the sun came up. The coyote jumped the fence and had Wiggly. We were all very sad and very surprised to have a coyote on the fully fenced property, with llamas and dogs as guard animals.
This chicken had been egg bound a couple of times in the past and we nursed her back to health in a small dog crate in our bedroom. Ever since then, she would walk up the deck stairs, walk around on the railings,
and tap at the doors to come in.
Sometimes, she succeeded. She was good girl with a great personality. RIP, Wiggly!
