This was taken from our driveway. Flames could be seen 1/2 mile up the road. What a crazy week! I'm so happy we were able to help our friends out by being available when they evacuated. Not the Shangra La, but our couches weren't too lumpy, I hope. While we never had to evacuate ourselves, it was very close. The car was packed with bare essentials. Everything else is just *stuff*. On my to do list: Video tape each room and it's contents for insurance purposes. Update kids backbacks with a couple of changes of clothing. (Hard to keep up with when they grow so fast!) Update phone number/address list for 72 hr. kit and include alternate routes out of the area. At one point, both of the major freeways out of our area were closed. I felt like a trapped animal. All is now getting back to normal for us, and our prayers are with those that have lost so much.
