First Family Field Trip~ Nauvoo

While the Nauvoo temple was being re-built.
On the banks of the Mississippi. We read Minn of the Mississippi while we were there.

This is were it all started. Not just a family vacation, but a Family Field Trip. This is the year we started reading The Little House on the Prairie series of books. L loves anything remotely pioneer related. It was great to tie the church history piece in and visit Nauvoo, too. Our travel plans were:
  • Fly in to Chicago
  • Drive to Nauvoo (no short jaunt from Chicago!)
  • See the sites of Nauvoo~ loved the visitor's center, brickyard, bakery and all of it!
  • Drive on the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Highway to Walnut Grove, Minn. to Lake Pepin, Wisconsin to the museums/home of Ma and Pa Ingalls in "Dakota" territory.
  • Back to Chicago and visit the Field Museum.

Whew! Big trip! Too bad our kids were too young to remember it.....Oh well, we have pictures!
