The Story About Ping

We started our very first Five in a Row curriculum study on a Thursday, July 20, 2000. We started with Social Studies and discussed China and it's people. We found China on the map and discussed the Yangtze River. The next day was our Language Arts lesson. We read the book and discussed what makes a book a classic. We talked about the book being almost as old as Grandma Ruth and children have enjoyed reading it for many years. Day 3 was our Applied Math day. We counted all of Ping's family: His mother, and father, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 11 aunts, 7 uncles and 42 cousins! Day 4 was Art Appreciation day. We discussed what medium the illustrator used and looked at our colored pencils.
It seems so simple!
