Just a Girl and her Llama

Yesterday, M-12 and I were out brushing the llamas and we decided to take Salt for a walk. It was a great evening for it!

We haven't been harnessing them up or taking them out very often, so everyone is a little rusty. Salty boy is the best of the herd and likes to please us, so he is an easy guy to harness. The command to stand and get harnessed is "Stand" and he's a very good boy. You usually need a catch pen that you need to herd a llama into before you can harness them, shear them, or anything that involves touching them. Salt and Nick are very well desensitized, though, and I go out everyday and give them a scratching on the check and neck.

The neighbor's dogs were really bugging him and he took some coaxing a few times but he is a good boy. M-12 likes to walk down to the main road and watch the people's surprised faces as they realize there is a llama standing there.  It always brings a smile to their faces and people wave and point and show their kids. We like to spread the llama love. :)
