Party Central

Hungry youth~

It's no big surprise that I'm not very social. I don't relish going to events or parties very much and prefer small groups of people. Even then I am more of a listener than a talker. Now that I have more room, I have tried to get over my anti-social ways and offer to host things. It's a little stressful (o.k., a lot) because I have some issues with thinking my house needs to look perfect before anyone comes in, and well, let's just say it never looks perfect. I am really working hard at overcoming that because I know it is a pride issue. The week before Christmas I had two pretty big events. I wasn't in charge of either, but lent my house out as the venue.

The first was our church's youth Christmas dinner and white elephant exchange. It was a progressive dinner and our house was the main course. (Baked potato bar and chili) I think we had 25 youth and 8 leaders. It went really well and everyone had fun.

Two days later L-16's commonwealth school class had their end of semester oral exams here. It was a very big deal with lots of tense moments leading up to it! The scholars did FANTASTIC and I was proud of each and every one of them. Parents and mentors came to watch and we had finger foods and dessert afterwards.

I hope I can continue to grow in hospitality and be a welcoming friend without getting hung up on "appearances".
